William and Harry in Enduro charity ride

Princes William and Harry have been criticized for raising just £1,500 each for the Enduro Africa charity ride they are taking part in.

The other 80 riders in the 1,000-mile ride across South Africa managed to raise an average of £3,500 each.

The grueling eight day off-road ride is intended to raise £250,000 for Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale, Unicef and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.

A spokesperson for the Royal pair said: “The princes both donated the minimum required to take part but their presence on the ride raised its profile and we expect more riders to be taking part next year, so it raises more money indirectly.”
